Weaving Project

Proudly helping to build sustainable communities

We are proud to be involved in a cultural villages project in conjunction with the UNESCO Observatory and the University of Melbourne. This work involves the design and building of a community centre in Laos that encourages culture, community and tradition through the arts. This centre will be located next door to a large orphanage and will be a place where the children and the community can visit to learn new and old skills. Textile Theory will establish a weaving centre, where Lao weaving can take place and continue to be taught. This building is on land that will entrusted in part, to the community, for the benefit of the community. We are delighted to be involved in such a socially responsible project that will allow for sustainable community growth. We will update you as we progress. Please check out the website for details http://www.abp.unimelb.edu.au/unesco/cultural-village/laos/

The project will cover a range of activities from cooking to weaving and will also house a library and architecture/fine arts facility. If you are able to become involved in any kind of capacity, please email us for a chat, we would love to hear from you.
